Shipping &
Returns
Handmade goods are posted by the person who made them, which changes a few of the usual rules.
How orders are packed
Every order is packed at the bench it came from. Glass and stoneware are wrapped by hand and boxed with fill; fibre and soap travel in paper. We do not use plastic void fill.
Orders are posted within two working days. If a maker is at a market that week, it may be the day after they get back — you will be told rather than left guessing.
Delivery options
- Standard — flat rate, free on orders over $150, arriving in about five to seven working days.
- Express — priority handling on the bench as well as in the post, two to three working days.
- Collect at a market day — free. We set the order aside and confirm which market.
If something arrives broken
Send a photograph through the contact form within a week of delivery, quoting your order number. Broken pieces are refunded or remade — your choice, not ours.
Do not post a damaged item back before speaking to us. Sometimes the carrier needs to see it where it is.
Returns and exchanges
Anything unused and in its original condition can be returned within thirty days of delivery for a refund of the item price. Return postage is yours unless the fault is ours.
Commissioned and made-to-order pieces cannot be returned, because they were made for one person. Those listings say so plainly before you buy.
Variation is not a fault
Where a piece is marked as handmade, small differences between the photograph and the object are expected: a knot that sits differently, a burn line a shade deeper, a glaze that broke another way in the kiln. That is the point of it, and it is not grounds for a fault return — though if a piece is genuinely not what was described, it is.
International orders
We post internationally on request. Duties and import taxes are the buyer's, and are not collected at checkout. Ask before ordering and we will quote the postage properly.
Rates, delivery windows and carrier details on this page are the mercato's current working figures while shipping accounts are finalised. They are confirmed on your order and will be replaced with the carrier's own terms before live trading.
