Gifts that need no wrapping

Two goat's milk soap bars tied with twine on a wood slice with dried lemon

The best handmade gifts arrive already resolved. Nothing to assemble, nothing to explain, no gift receipt required.

Under twenty-five

  • The three-piece goat's milk soap set — lavender and vanilla, oats and oatmeal, rose and petal — boxed and labelled.
  • The lemon cake soap pair, tied with twine and needing no box at all.
  • The fifteen-ounce painted mug, which is a first-cup gift and reads as one.

Under sixty

  • The leatherbound journal, if the person keeps one. Nobody has ever needed to be told what it is for.
  • The hummingbird stained glass panel, for anyone with a window they have not done anything with.
  • A framed coastal photograph, which hangs or stands and therefore fits any room it is carried into.

One caution worth stating: almost everything here is one of a kind or made in small runs, so the gift you are looking at may not be there in December.
